Welcome to fxnavi.ca, where I hope to provide assistance and share my experience with those looking to break into the VFX industry.
Brief intro about me:
I graduated from Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada in mid-2015, and I'm currently working as an FX Supervisor in Vancouver, BC.
After gaining valuable experience in leadership roles on 10 exciting projects, I've also had the pleasure of mentoring nearly 200 students and junior artists. This has allowed me to guide them in software proficiency and provide valuable insight into the industry.
I've gotten messages from VFX students and junior artists on different social media platforms over the past few years. I've noticed that they often have similar questions.
To save time and gather resources in one place, I made fxnavi.ca. It helps me give support and share my knowledge and experience.
My goal for this site is simple:
Share my experience to help you.
Avoiding mistakes in your VFX journey.
Guide beginners in choosing the right VFX tools and schools.
Offer tips on creating a killer demo reel to showcase your skills.
Providing information about software skills and VFX workflows.
A while ago, I bought a book that claimed to teach how to make the water horse effect from The Lord of the Rings using After Effects, but I soon found out it wasn't the right tool.
Unfortunately, many beginners in the VFX and CG industry lack knowledge about it and waste time using After Effects for feature film compositing or C4D for heavy-duty simulation.
As someone with industry experience, I want to help new professionals avoid these mistakes and make the most of their time and effort. I can share my knowledge about industry information, study plans, software skills, VFX workflow, and more.
Any questions
